The Products That Made Me Believe in Clean

The Products That Made Me Believe in Clean

I was always skeptical of Clean Beauty. For the longest time, I didn't believe it could be effective in solving the multitude of concerns I had.

I thought that my skin concerns needed to be addressed through stronger lab-driven formulas. Natural products just didn’t seem like they would be effective enough at preventing my acne or reducing my wrinkles. I mean, we have science-backed skincare for a reason, right? If medicine is made in a lab, why can’t my skincare be?

But that kind of thinking was exactly the problem because medicines are widely regulated and tested whereas, the beauty industry is not.

When I found out that certain toxins, used as preservatives in most of my products contribute to aging on top of causing cancer, and other serious issues, I decided to give CLEAN a try. If the products didn’t work, then I’d go back to using my products as is, the Neutrogena facewash, the Cetaphil moisturizer, my Dior foundation, and my NARS concealer.

Here’s the thing though. The first product I tried worked better than I could have dreamed. It was One Love Organics vitamin B cleansing oil. At the recommendation of the sales associate at Follain, I used it in place of my facewash instead of in conjunction with it. It was absolutely perfect for my combination skin. It removed makeup without stripping the natural oils from my face, within a week my dry spots were gone, and my oily spots less oily.

Okay, I thought, maybe we should look into this more. I then began exploring alternative mascaras because so many of the mascaras in drug stores or at Sephora contain gluten, and since I have a gluten allergy, my eyes were constantly irritated. I tried Well People’s black mascara and never went back to my Too Faced. It just didn’t make sense to put my body in distress when I had an alternative that did the same thing.

So my question to you is, what clean product would you try out? What is something you’re unaahppy with in your current routine? Maybe replace it with clean
